Renamable: changing the extension should just work

An accidental rename led me to build a file converter that works in Finder and keeps files on my Mac.

I was trying to convert a file and accidentally renamed its extension. The file seemed broken afterwards, and I remember thinking that converting a file shouldn’t be this hard in 2026.

I also didn’t want to use a conversion website full of ads and upload my file without knowing where it was going. I wanted to change the extension and have the conversion happen on my Mac.

That’s why I’m building Renamable, a macOS app that converts files when you change their extension in Finder. Everything stays on your Mac. It’s still coming soon, and you can see it at renamable.app.
