Hi, I’m Ruban.

Projects

Apps I wished existed

Mac apps and developer tools, built around things I wanted for myself.

Fidget

Active

Tiny toys for your MacBook’s trackpad, with haptics you can feel.

A macOS app that opens from the notch for a little break while AI works, or whenever you want to fidget.

I wanted something to fidget with while AI processed my prompts, because picking up my phone often turned into doomscrolling and forgetting about work.

Renamable

Convert a file by changing its extension in Finder.

A macOS app that does the conversion on your Mac, so your files stay with you.

I accidentally renamed a file’s extension while trying to convert it. I wanted that to work, without uploading my file to a website full of ads.

Change the extension. Keep the photo.

Let It Brew

Maintained

A macOS menu-bar app that keeps your Mac awake while coding agents work.

It follows real sessions in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI and Pi, and lets the Mac sleep as soon as the work stops.

I used Caffeine and Amphetamine for years, but with coding agents I needed something that knows when they’re actually working. I’m still maintaining it.

Past work

Switchboard

Retired

Open-source model and reasoning-effort routing for Claude Code and Codex.

I built it to find out whether a fast System One model could pick the model and effort for each coding task. I retired it after my experiments convinced me it wasn’t a good router.

agex

Retired

Run AI coding agents in parallel, each on its own git branch and worktree.

I built it in the early days of agentic coding to make working with git worktrees easier. I’ve retired it now that a lot of agents support worktrees out of the box.

About me

Life outside the office

I’ve always been obsessed with tech. I like building useful products, and I’m interested in launching my own startup. Outside my world of tech, I like spending time in the ocean. One of my hobbies is scuba diving, and I’m a certified advanced diver. At home I have an interesting buddy, a cute little domestic cat named , who keeps me company while I work or build things.
